Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha has taken partin marking World AIDS Day 2020 and promoting a Thai silk festival.

The PM, accompanied by Secretary-General of the Prime Minister’s Office DisatatHotrakit, visited an exhibition on activities for World AIDS Day 2020 set up bythe AIDS Research Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society as well as the “10thThai Silk Festival: Thai Silk to the World”.

The PM accepted a red bow symbolising World AIDS Day and joined in marking theannual observance, which this year is being held on the concept “Walk Together:Coexisting without Stigma”.

He underlined that the government supports all people and said he has taskedthe Ministry of Labour and relevant agencies with supporting work for HIVpatients.

He asked for no stigma against those infected with the virus while remindingpeople that Thailand has had considerable success in treating and preventingthe spread of HIV.

The Department of Disease Control and its network is to officially engage inWorld AIDS Day activities on December 1.


At thesilk festival demonstration, the Prime Minister took part in promoting Thaisilk alongside organisers from a foundation of diplomats and their spousesformed to aid tourists and promote Thai culture.

Students of fashion design were tapped this year to create silk outfits forforeign ambassadors to Thailand.

The festival will take place on December 6 at the Royal Thai Navy ConferenceHall./.
