Thai cabinet approves bill to legalise casinos, gambling
Thailand’s cabinet on January 13 approved a draft law that will legalise gambling and casino, a move aimed at boosting tourism, jobs, and investment.

Hanoi (VNA) –♔ Thailand’s cabinet on January 13 approved a draft law that will legalise gambling and casino, a move aimed at boosting tourism, jobs, and investment.
Accordingly, casinos will be allowed to operate within a complex that also houses other businesses such as a hotel, convention hall, mall, or theme park.
The latest move is expected to see foreign visitor numbers grow 5-10% while generating up to 15,000 new jobs.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said the bill will solve issues of illegal gambling in the country.
Some forms of gambling such as betting on boxing and horse racing are allowed but casinos remain illegal in Thailand.
The bill will go to the Council of State for adjustment as needed before being submitted to the House of Representatives./.
