Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan presented Tet gifts to 200policy beneficiary families and Agent Orange/dioxin victims during hisworking visit to the southern province of Bac Lieu on February 1.

He laid wreaths at the war martyrs cemeteries inBac Lieu province and Hoa Binh district, and burnt incense at thenational historical relic, Uncle Ho Temple, in Chau Thoicommune, Vinh Loi district.

Bac Lieu province aloneearmarked more than 22 billion VND for gifts to poor households andfamilies living close to the poverty line.

As aresult, more than 21,000 policy beneficiary families, almost 24,000 poorhouseholds and over 14,000 other families living near the poverty linereceived gifts from the Party and State.

On January31, the Standing Committee of central Quang Binh provincial chapter ofthe Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union presented 1.5 tonnes of clothesand 60 gift packages to disadvantaged, policy beneficiaries and familiesof martyrs.

The committee also donated textbooks,books and 33 school uniforms to disadvantaged students in mountainousThuong Trach commune, as well as Tet gifts to soldiers and officers atCa Roong Border Guard post in the commune.

The sameday, the Ethnics Committee of central Thua Thien-Hue province gave Tetgifts to 170 esteemed members of minority ethnic groups in theprovince.

Meanwhile, the southern province ofHau Giang earmarked more than 21 billion VND to help poor and policybeneficiary families enjoy Tet.-VNA
