Hanoi (VNA)ꦰ – Temporary anti-dumping duties will be levied on some coated steel products imported from China and the Republic of Korea (RoK) from September 16, 2016 through January 13, 2017.

Under the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s decision, the products subject to the duties are under 35 HS codes. The highest tax rate, 38.34 percent, will be imposed on the coated steel of almost all producers from China (including Hong Kong), including BX Steel POSCO Cold Rolled Sheet Co. Ltd. Only six Chinese businesses are entitled to lower rates.
Among RoK companies, only POSCO’s products are subject to a tax rate of 12.4 percent, while the rate for products of other firms is 19 percent. Last March, the ministry launched an anti-dumping investigation into coated steel imports hailing from China and the RoK. The ministry’s Vietnam Competition Authority said the aforementioned lower anti-dumping duties are levied on foreign companies cooperating with the Vietnamese investigation body.
In the next investigation phase, the investigation body will verify information provided by the businesses that have cooperated with the agency and calculate the official anti-dumping tax rate. It later will hold an open consultation so that the concerned companies can raise their opinions, the authority said. Detailed information will be published on the two websites //www.vca.gov.vn or //www.qlct.gov.vn .-VNA
