Son La, Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc, and Hau Giang provinces have announced the completion of efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Nghiem said that the province has to date built 928 new houses and repaired 1.098 houses for households.
According to local Departments of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, over 13.5 million people nationwide benefited from this outpouring of support. The total budget for this endeavour exceeded 7.943 trillion VND, up 181 billion VND from the previous year.
At the first meeting of the central steering committee for the eradication of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in Hanoi on November 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is also head of the steering committee, emphasised the target to achieve elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing nationwide by 2025.
