Tay Ninh (VNA)♎ – The southern province of Tay Ninh is exerting efforts to achieve a growth target of over 10% this year.
At a meeting held recently to review the socio-economic situation in the first half of 2025 and set tasks for the remaining months, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Ut has asked agencies and loclaities to reassess and build growth scenarios in a bid to achieve a growth target of over 10% as the former Long An province was merged into Tay Ninh from July 1.
From now to the year's end, the province will prioritise streamlining its organisational structure for greater efficiency, and effectively operating its two-tier local government model to ensure stability, consistency, and uninterruption. Tay Ninh aims to fully leverage its geo-economic potential and advantages to accelerate fast and sustainable development. In addition, it will push for industrialisation and modernisation, with science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation serving as key growth drivers.
Tay Ninh will also continue institutional reforms to unlock resources, mobilise all available resources for developing modern and comprehensive transport infrastructure, and enhance its high-quality workforce to meet development needs. Economic growth will be pursued in tandem with the promotion of cultural values, social equity, justice and welfare, environmental protection, and living standard improvement.
The province has set its 2025 economic growth (GRDP) target at 9–9.5%, striving to exceed 10%. Per capita GRDP is expected to reach 115–120 million VND (4,385–4,575 USD), and state budget revenue to rise 20–30% compared to 2024.To realise these targets, Tay Ninh will accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital, aiming to reach over 75% disbursement by Q3 and 100% by year-end. Investors delaying disbursement will be subject to reallocation of funds to other projects.
The province will expedite site clearance for key projects such as Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway and Provincial Road 827E, ensuring that land is handed over to contractors as soon as it is cleared. Investment promotion will be bolstered to attract more enterprises while the business environment further improved by removing administrative hurdles to speed up the registered projects.

Truong Van Liep, Director of the provincial Department of Finance, said that in the first half of 2025, Tay Ninh emerged as a standout in socio-economic development, achieving remarkable results. Its GRDP growth rate hit 9.63%, the highest in southern Vietnam and seventh among the 34 provinces and cities nationwide.
Projections indicate that Tay Ninh could reach a growth rate of 10.1% in 2025, he went on, adding the Department of Finance has developed two growth scenarios for the second half of the year to give advice to the provincial administration so as to exceed the Government-set target of 9.3% and secure expansion of over 10%.
Despite these positive outcomes, following the administrative merger and implementation of the two-tier local government model, some agencies continue to face challenges. Task allocation and administrative processes remain unclear due to structural changes. There is a lack of coordination between provincial and local levels, and difficulties persist in document approvals, budget management, and administrative procedure settlement. Some communes and wards are facing staffing shortages due to increased workloads and personnel adjustments after the merger of the two provinces.
