Vietnam aims to have a sustainable and modern fishery sector by 2050, with maritime and inland waters biodiversity preserved and local livelihoods improved.

The APEC Ocean and Fisheries Working Group (OFWG) opened its ninth annual meeting in Can Tho city on August 21 to discuss a common action plan for the APEC economies and regional and global cooperation activities to sustainably develop fisheries and sea- and ocean-related fields.

A great deal of young shrimps and fish were released into sea and river on March 31 in different provinces across Vietnam to regenerate aquatic resources.
