Da Nang (VNA) – Explosive festival Cocofest 2016 right at the heart of Cocobay in Da Nang will bring visitors to the beach city this summer from August 27-28.
Themed “tropical color”, the first of its kind promises to become one of the locality’s highlights, promoting culture, art, economic and tourism as well as helping the vibrant city become a unique tourism and event city.
General Director of the festival and famous musician Quoc Trung said the event will host several talented international artists such as Grammy-nominated star Kelis, actress-singer Samsaya, the most respected DJs and producers on Copenhagen’s scene Lulu Rouge, the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s The FRom The Airport, the RoK’s idol and actress Park Gyurti who is known for being a former member and leader of famous girl group Kara, among others.
Additionally, hundreds of games, entertainment, ebullient street arts and fine cuisine from around the world will await spectators at the event.

Up to 11 cruise boats in the Han River were allowed to resume their night city tours on June 14 after a ten-day safety review hiatus as requested by the Da Nang city People’s Committee.
About 7,000 people are expected to visit the Beach-Leisure & MICE Travel Mart (BMTM Da Nang 2016) which is scheduled to take place from June 24 - 26 in the central coastal city of Da Nang.
The Pacific Partnership programme 2016 was launched in the central city of Da Nang on July 15 with the participation of Khanh Hoa hospital ship under the Vietnam People’s Navy for the first time.
The central coastal city of Da Nang plans to debut an open-top double-decker bus as part of the Da Nang City Tour service – the first of its kind in Vietnam.

It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.

For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.
Eight teams will join the tournament, divided into two groups. Group A features Vietnam, the Philippines, Sichuan Club (China), and Australia, while Group B consists of Vietnam U21, Korabelka Club (Russia), Taiwan (China), and U21 Thailand.

For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
The contest carried deep meaning as it was the first time the life of Vietnamese women abroad had been highlighted as the central theme, said poet and writer Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association.
The event formed part of Vietnam’s ongoing campaign to seek UNESCO World Heritage status for the complex at the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, scheduled to take place in Paris in July.
