Students promote Vietnamese culture in Russia’s Far East

Moscow (VNA) – An event promoting Vietnamese culture was held on April 27 at the Far EasternFederal University in Vladivostokcity in the Far East of Russia.

The event saw the participation ofrepresentatives from the Vietnamese Consulate in Vladivostok city, the university, researchers,and Vietnamese and international students.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Consul General to Vladivostok Nguyen Dang Hien said that he ishappy to see the cultural event organised by Vietnamese students and Russianstudents who love Vietnam, to introduce Vietnamese cultural values tointernational friends.

Honorary Chairman of the Russia-VietnamFriendship Association of Primorye region Aleksander Sokolovskyi highlyappreciated the efforts of Vietnamese and Russian students to organise theevent which is the third of its kind that has been held at the university.

Sokolovskyi highlighted special friendship between Vietnam and Russia, saying that Vietnamese language and culture have been studied and taught for the longesttime at the university.

The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.

ꦰ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
