Story-telling contest highlights Vietnam-Laos special friendship
A story-telling competition on Vietnam-Laos friendship was launched in Hanoi on May 9, as part of a special communications campaign for the 60th founding anniversary of the nations’ diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962-2022).

Hanoi (VNA) – A story-telling competition onVietnam-Laos friendship was launched in Hanoi on May 9, as part of a specialcommunications campaign for the 60th founding anniversary of thenations’ diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962-2022).
Co-organised by the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam FriendshipAssociations, the Lao Embassy in Vietnam, and Vietnam Times magazine, thecontest receives entries in the forms of writing or video clips until August 31.All Vietnamese citizens with relations to Lao people are eligible toparticipate. Entries are to tell stories about thecontestants’ keepsakes, which are required to be owned for at least five years.
Via the judges’ decisions and readers’ votes and shares onthe official website of the competition, one special, five first, 15 seconds,20 third and 30 consolation prizes will be awarded.

At the launch ceremony, Nguyen Tien Long, Vice President ofthe Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, said the contest will popularise values ofthe countries’ special amity to the younger generations in a fresh andinteresting way.
Chanthaphone Khammanichanh, Lao Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam,said the keepsakes hold invaluable spiritual values on the affection and relationshistory shared between the two peoples./.
Hanoi always gives high priority to developing its friendship and cooperation with Lao localities, particularly Vientiane, said Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung at his meetings with Lao leaders on April 4.
Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 5 for Lao Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Chanthaphone Khammanichanh, during which he appreciated defence cooperation between the two countries, especially between their military regions and border guard forces.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien paid a courtesy call to Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh in Vientiane on April 11, part of his working trip to Laos to co-chair the border trade development cooperation conference.
