A State funeral will be held for Nguyen Duc Binh, former member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, former Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and former Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

Hanoi (VNA) – A Statefuneral will be held for Nguyen Duc Binh, former member of the Politburo of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, former Chairman of theCentral Theoretical Council and former Director of the Ho Chi Minh NationalAcademy of Politics, who passed away on January 31.

In an announcement, the CPVCentral Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, theVietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Binh’s family said despitereceiving attentive care by the Party, State, professors, doctors and hisfamily, Binh passed away at 0:44am on January 31 at the Central MilitaryHospital 108 due to old age and serious illness.

A 23-member board has been establishedfor the State funeral, headed by Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretaryof the CPV Central Committee and head of the CPV Central Committee’sOrganisation Commission.

Nguyen Duc Binh is laid in stateat the National Funeral Hall, 5 Tran Thanh Tong street, Hanoi.

The respect-paying ceremony willtake place from 7am to 10 am on February 2, followed by a memorial service.

He will be buried in his homeprovince of Ha Tinh on February 3.

Nguyen Duc Binh was born onSeptember 9, 1927 in the central province of Ha Tinh. He participated in revolutionaryactivities in August 1945 and became a member of the CPV in 1946. He was amember of the CPV Central Committee in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th tenures, and a member of the Politburo in the 7th and 8th tenures.-VNA
