State Audit’s role in anti-corruption fight discussed

– The State Audit is oneof the direct agencies responsible for detecting and handling corruption,Deputy Auditor General Dang The Vinh said at a workshop in Hanoi on April 11.

He said the control of power is difficult, butit must be done to prevent corruption.

The official suggested strictly restrictingstate power by the Constitution and law and increasing mutual control amongstate agencies, in addition to improving the efficiency of inspections andselecting highly-qualified supervisors.

The workshop aims to seek solutions to improvethe quality of auditing and help the Party, Government and localities tocontrol power against corruption.

At the function, participants discussed the roleof the State Audit in power control, contributing to the prevention ofcorruption.

They also touched upon the agency’s execution ofthe Party’s regulations, and shared international experience in the field.

In 2018, the State Audit proposed a fine of 89.6trillion VND (3.86 billion USD) and helped retrieve more than 20 trillion VNDof State budget and reduce budget spending by 44.4 trillion VND, up 18.39percent compared to the previous year.-VNA
