Hanoi (VNA) – Staff of Vietnam’s level-2 fieldhospital No. 2 are currently under training in Hanoi to prepare to assume thetasks their peers of the hospital No. 1 are performing in the UN peacekeepingmission in South Sudan.

At the opening ceremony of the pre-deploymenttraining course in Hanoi on December 13, Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lt.Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh spoke highly of efforts by the Defence Ministry’sagencies, especially the Vietnam Military Medical University and the VietnamDepartment of Peacekeeping Operations (VDPO), to prepare for the hospital No. 2

He told the university and the VDPO to payspecial attention to equipping the hospital staff with skills in performingtasks at a UN mission. He also asked for close coordination with the hospitalNo. 1 staff to exchange experience regarding preparations, deployment, and taskimplementation.

VDPO Director Col. Hoang Kim Phung said membersof the hospital No. 2 are excellent servicemen and servicewomen chosen from theMilitary Medical University, the General Department of Logistics, the MilitaryRegion 2, the VDPO and the Department of Military Medicine.

He noted the pre-deployment training course ispart of preparations for the hospital No. 2 to replace the first one performingUN peacekeeping tasks in South Sudan. It is also meant to continue affirmingVietnam’s role, responsibility and efforts in joining UN peacekeepingoperations for the sake of global peace and stability.
