Some 11,000 join VPBank Hanoi International Marathon 2024

Some of 11,000 athletes from 20 countries and territories on October 13 participated in the VPBank Hanoi International Marathon 2024, which took place at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square to celebrate the capital city’s Liberation Day.

Hanoi (VNA) ♛– Some of 11,000 athletes from 20 countries and territories on October 13 participated in the VPBank Hanoi International Marathon 2024, which took place at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square to celebrate the capital city’s Liberation Day.

The participants raced through iconic landmarks across 4 distances: 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km. The course was designed according to international standards in terms of lighting, security, and medical support. The tournament is a non-profit event, with all proceeds to be used to enhance the race's quality and support social welfare activities. Each runner contributed 30,000 VND (1.21 USD) to a charity programme jointly launched by VPBank and the Vietnam Television in support of students. The bank also presented 330 million VND to the programme fund.
Music stations along the route, along with a pre-race concert, contributed to the vibrant atmosphere. This year’s event offered 122 awards worth over 2 billion VND, including cash prizes and gifts.
On the same day , the "District 1 Midnight Run 2024" took place in Ho Chi Minh City. Organised by Service Company To Foreign Missions (FOSCO) and the HCM City Department of Foreign Affairs, the 5km race aimed to foster ties among staff members of Consulate Generals, officials of departments of foreign affairs in southern localities, as well as representatives of international and foreign non-governmental organisations in the city./.

🐲 Vietnamese culture takes centre stage in Korean city

💝 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
