Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung addressed the 15th National Assembly's 7th session in Hanoi on May 27, clarifying key issues raised by lawmakers regarding proposed amendments to the Law on Social Insurance.

The Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has proposed the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs raise the State’s monetary support for payment of voluntary social insurance premiums.

The Vietnam Social Security’s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City aims to increase social insurance coverage to 54 percent of the local workforce, equivalent to more than 2.5 million people in 2019.

As many as 13.52 million people have joined compulsory social insurance by December 2017, up more than 1 million people over 2016, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) reported.
