Soc Trang: Disadvantaged labourers get support for Tet

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on January 19 attended a programme to support disadvantaged labourers working at An Nghiep industrial park in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

Soc Trang (VNA) – Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on January 19 attended a programmeto support disadvantaged labourers working at An Nghiep industrial park in theMekong Delta province of Soc Trang on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar NewYear (Tet) Festival. 


Entitled "Tet sum vay –Xuan binh an”, the programme was part of activities to take care of workers inthe locality, helping them enjoy a꧋ warm and happy Tet despite impacts of theCOVID-19 pandemic.   

According to Chairmanof the provincial Trade Union Nguyen Thanh Son, thanks to the support anddonations of businesses and donors in and outside the locality, it has more resources to support trade union members and workers withdifficult circumstances.

At the event, theprovincial Trade Union presented 7,789 gift packages worth 2.4 billion VND (105,657 USD) in total to workers with serious diseases and those facing difficulties due to the pandemic; and provided860 million VND for constructing and repairing 20 houses for poor labourers.

The provincial Trade Union and its chapters at all levels have coordinatedwith the local authorities and employers to present gifts totaled 16.1 billionVND to
50,589 trade unionmembers and employees during the Tet holiday.

On the same daymorning, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited and presented gifts to theprovincial Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Ass🎀ociation, and dignitaries, monks andnuns at Sam Rong 💯and Mahatup Pagodas in Soc Trang city./.
