The moves allow passport holders from the two ASEAN member states to stay up to 30 days in each other’s country.
The two countries reached the visa exemption on June 7 during Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s official visit to Myanmar. In a meeting between the Singaporean Prime Minister and Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw, the two leaders touched on measures to boost investment, opening Singapore’s vocational training institute in Yangon, tourist promotion and reviewing the two countries’ Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement inked in 1999.
