The Monetary Authority of Singapore has warned consumers to raise alert to e-mails asking for private information related to bank accounts.

Singapore (VNA) - The Monetary Authority of Singaporehas warned consumers to raise alert to e-mails asking for private informationrelated to bank accounts.

In a statement on May 7, the body said these e-mails arepurportedly sent from banks, asking consumers to update their personalparticulars including information on their bank accounts, online banking usernames and passwords.

Some of them claim that it is an MAS requirement for bankcustomers to do so, it added.

MAS recommended customers who receive such e-mails shouldnot follow the instructions and should report promptly to their banks.

Recently, the Singaporean authorities also warned the publicof scam calls from people impersonating police officers.-VNA
