It is the first agreement in the field for the US in the Asia Pacific.
The document was signed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) on the sidelines of the ongoing Singapore Airshow.
Accordingly, the two sides will accept each other's safety regulatory requirements and mutually recognise procedures for the approval and monitoring of aircraft maintenance organisations.
The agreement is expected to cut significant costs and save time, as well as eliminate the duplication of inspections in both countries. This is the second agreemen💧t concluded under the US-Singapore Bilateral Safety Agreement signed in 2004.
