Hanoi (VNA) –🅺 Singapore willhost the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and leader of theDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un, which is slated forJune 12, confirmed Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 10.

In a statement, the ministry voicedits hope that the meeting will promote prospects for peace in the KoreanPeninsula. However, it did not reveal details of preparations for the meeting. According to experts, Singapore,Southeast Asia’s financial hub, was chosen as the venue as the country isneutral in inter-Korean issues and maintains a high security level due to frequentlyhosting major world summits. Earlier, US President Donald Trumpsaid he would meet with DPRK leader Kim Jong-un  by the end of May to achieve permanentdenuclearisation on the Korean Peninsula.-VNA
