Singapore to host AFF Suzuki Cup 2020

Singapore will host the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2020, which is set to take place between December 5, 2021 and January 1, 2022.

Singapore (VNA) - Singapore will host the ASEANFootball Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2020, which is set to take place betweenDecember 5, 2021 and January 1, 2022.

The country gained a majority of votes for hosting the eventduring a session held by the AFF on September 28.

Singapore was selected as it met all of the criteria set bythe AFF, including the government’s support, safety and health management, riskmanagement within the COVID situation, venue and facilities, and experience inorganising competitions amid COVID-19.

The city-state will host the sport tournament at threevenues, including its 55,000-seat national stadium, over-6,000-seat Jalan Besarstadium, and over-6,000-seat Bishan stadium.

This year’s teams have been divided into two groups.

Group A consists of Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar,Singapore and the winners of the play-off between Brunei and Timor-Leste onDecember 1.

Group B comprises defending champions Vietnam, Malaysia,Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos./.
