Singapore Power to build charging stations in Indonesia

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said Singapore Power will participate in developing infrastructure of electric vehicle (EV) in Indonesia.

Jakarta (VNA)🍌 - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic AffairsAirlangga Hartarto has said Singapore Power will participate in developinginfrastructure of electric vehicle (EV) in Indonesia. 


Accordingly, the Singaporegovernment-owned electricity and gas distribution company will work closelywith local power producer, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), to build around500 charging stations in 2020.

According to acting CEO ofPLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani, the charging stations are developed to meet theneeds of ride-hailing provider Grab, which will start the pilot project.

PLN will collaborate with 20companies, which are public transportation providers and electric carmanufacturers.

Coordinating Minister forMaritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan added that PLN shouldfocus on preparing EV charging stations next year so that EV operationscould begin in 2021.

𒁏 Earlier, PLN and two digital players Grab and GoJeksigned a memorandum of understanding to build a network of EV charging stationsin the country. The deal also involves taxi operator PT Blue Bird Indonesia,Chinese automaker BYD Auto, regional public bus operator PT Transjakarta, andautomaker PT Mobil Anak Bangsa.

Grab Indonesia’s President Ridzki Kramadibrata said thepartnership is part of a plan to develop the country’ electric vehicleecosystem which Japan’s SoftBank Group committed an investment of 2 billionUSD./.
