Hanoi (VNA) – The Singapore Navy’s RSS Endurance with 81 crew members on board, captained by Lieutenant Colonel Noel Chen Xin Yi arrived at Cam Ranh International Port in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on March 17, for a five-day friendship visit.
It is the first foreign military vessel to visit the port, a major international dock which was inaugurated on March 8. The port is designed to ensure logistic services, maintenance, repair and refueling for all domestic and foreign ships both military and civilian.
The visit follows the success of the seventh Singapore-Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD) which took place in Singapore in late February. It is also aimed at strengthening the firendship between Vietnam and Singapore, as well as the two countries’ armies.
During the visit, the Lieutenant colonel will pay a courtesy call with leaders of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and Navy High Command Zone 4 and visit some beauty spots in the locality.
Cam Ranh International Port, is the biggest port in Vietnam in terms of wharf length – which can handle 18 ships at one time and accommodate ships of up to 110,000 DWT, and is designed to protect ships against level 8 gales and storms.-VNA
