Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Singapore and Malaysia on January 16 signed a bilateralagreement on the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link), which will connect thecity-state and Malaysia's city of Johor Bahru upon its completion in 2024.
The signing ceremonywas witnessed by visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and Singapore'sPrime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the eighth Singapore-Malaysia Leaders'Retreat.
The project, whichwas first mentioned in 2010, is expected to connect public transport betweenJohor Baru and Singapore.
According to theLand Transport Authority of Singapore, the RTS Link will be capable of carryingup to 10,000 passengers per hour per trip.
Within the frameworkof the visit, on January 15, PM Najib Razak and his Singaporean counterpartattended a ceremony to inaugurate two joint projects of Marina One and DUO inSouth Marina and Ophir-Rochor of Singapore with total investment of 33 billionringgit (about 8.3 billion USD).
The two projects areinvested by Khazanah Nasional Bhd OF Malaysia and Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd ofSingapore with respective capital contribution of 60 percent and 40 percent.They were implemented by Singapore-based M S Pte Ltd.-VNA
