Singapore (VNA) – The Singaporean Government introduced the Foreign InterferenceCountermeasures Bill to the legislature for discussions on September 13.


TheSingaporean Ministry of Home Affairs said the proposed law will strengthenSingapore's ability to counter foreign attempts to influence domestic politics,incite social tensions or sway key national decisions.

Ifadopted, the bill will provide the Government with a range of tools, includingpowers to compel Internet and social media service providers to discloseinformation on users, remove online content and block user accounts, to counterthese hostile actors.

Individualsand groups directly involved in Singapore's political processes will bedesignated as politically significant persons (PSPs) who will be subjectto measures to mitigate the risk of foreign interference should the lawcome to pass.

Itwill require political parties, politicians, election candidates and theirelect𝄹ion agents to declare any foreign af🅠filiation./.
