Singapore (VNA) - Singaporean officials said thecountry will ease COVID-19 restrictions in 2 phases from June 14, following a steady drop in the number of cases in the community.

At an online press conference on June 10, theinter-ministerial task force tackling COVID-19 said that thanks to the activecooperation of the people in implementing the "enhanced warning"period from May 16, the locally-transmitted cases has decreased sharply.

Besides increasing the size of social gatherings, the first step of Singapore's reopening on June 14 will see operating capacity limits for attractions, cruises, museums and public libraries go up from 25 percent to 50 percent.

The size limits for events such as movie screenings, live performances, worship services and marriage solemnisations will also be increased. Pre-event testing will be required for events with more than 50 attendees.

In the second step, slated to take place from June 21, dine-in for groups of up to five may be allowed. The authorities will be "significantly stepping up enforcement and will take firmer enforcement action for any breaches", said the Cambodian Ministry of Health.

Other activities such as wedding receptions and the playing of wind instruments at live performances will also resume.

The ministry said gyms and fitness studios may resume indoor mask-off sports activities, with safe distancing of at least 2m between people and at least 3m between groups of up to five people.
Singapore is pushing forward with vaccination programme and COVID-19testing campaign. Since June 11, citizens in the age group of 12 to 39 will beeligible for vaccination and test kits are available for purchase at local pharmacies.

By June 9, Singapore had administered 4.4 milliondoses of COVID-19 vaccines, with 2.5 million people getting at least one dose and 1.9 million others receiving full two shots./.
