Singapore appoints second finance minister

Singapore (VNA)🌌 – The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) of Singapore on August 22 released an announcement of Cabinet changes, including the appointment of Lawrance Wong as the Second Financial Minister.

According to the PMO, Finance Minister Seng Swee Keat who suffered a stroke in May will resume his duties with his focus on next year’s budget. He will serve as co-chairman of the Committee on the Future Economy with Minister of Commerce and Industry S.Iswaran.
Lawrence Wong will be appointed as the Second Minister for Finance, concurrently with his present appointment as Minister for National Development while Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam will relinquish his position as Covering Minister for Finance, the PMO added.
In addition, Sim Ann will be appointed Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Trade and Industry. She remains Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.  The changes take effect from August 22.-VNA
