Silver coins issued to celebrate DPRK-USA summit

As many as 300 silver coins are scheduled to be issued on February 26 to welcome the summit between US President Donald Trump and DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un slated for February 27-28 in Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 300 silver coins are scheduled to be issuedon February 26 to welcome the summit between US President Donald Trump andDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un slated for February27-28 in Hanoi.

The coin is designed with two faces, one with the image of a dove, a symbol ofpeace, an olive branch and the flags of the DPRK and the US, and the other withthe image of a lotus and the date of the summit, said a representative ofVietnam Philately Co., which is assigned to make the coins.

The coins cost 500,000 VND (21 USD) each.

“Our designers and artisans have worked very hard to design and finish to coin’simage in only one week. We are trying to complete the coins to issue them on February26 to welcome the historic summit,” said the representative.

Earlier, the US issued 1,000 coins on February 23 to celebrate the secondsummit, with each worth 100 USD.

Last year, the White House announced another coin to mark the first Trump-Kimsummit in Singapore.

Singapore also issued gold coins to celebrate the summit held last June in thecountry.-VNA
