A silk painting entitled “Uyen uong hy lien” (Mandarin ducks and lotus) from Vietnamese painter Le Pho fetched 1.2 million Euros at the recent “Magnificence and Regality” auction held by Sotheby’s Paris.

Nguyen Phan Chanh boasted his unique creation style, making silk painting an art form that effectively expresses Vietnam’s national identity.

A silk painting by painter Nguyen Nam Son, who co-founded the Indochine Fine Arts College, was sold for 440,000 euro (or over half a million USD) at an auction at Aguttes in Paris on October 22.
