According to Nguyen Phuong Dung, Deputy Chairwoman ofthe ENV, a harsh reality shows that only about one in 1,000 hatching make it toadulthood. Sea turtles face many threats during their maturation. Besides the loss of their habitat, especially the spawning groundsalong the coast, sea turtles are also hunted to make jewelry, specimensand other valuable products, Dung said. She called on the public to stop buying products madefrom sea turtle as well as from other wild animals. A 100-kg sea turtle, entangled in a fishing net, was rescued by a local fisherman in the waters of Lang Co township, Phuc Loc district of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, and later released to the nature, leaders of the Lang Co Border Post said on March 16.
