SEA Games 32: Vietnam retains gold medals in many sports on May 9
Vietnam successfully defended its championship in many sports of its strength and secured nine more gold medals on May 9, at the ongoing 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Cambodia.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Vietnam successfullydefended its championship in many sports of its strength and secured nine more gold medals on May 9, at the ongoing 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) inCambodia.
Crossing the finish line in 4minutes and 16.85 seconds, runner Nguyen Thi Oanh maintained her gold medal inthe women’s 1,500m event, which she dominated in the two previous regional Games.
About 20 minutes later, she finishedthe 3,000m hurdle race in 10 minutes and 34.37 seconds to retain her title inthis event.
Meanwhile, the Vovinam team pocketedtwo gold medals in the men’s and women’s multi-weapon training events.
Gymnast Dinh Phuong Thanh kept his championship in the men’s single bar event and went down in history ofVietnamese gymnastics for winning gold for five consecutive editions of the Games.Other gymnasts of Vietnam obtained two more gold medals on May 9.

Vietnamese athletes also brought home one gold medal in eSports and another inOuk Chaktrang, a traditional chess of Cambodia.
In the women’s football, despitelosing 1-2 to the Philippines, Vietnam still topped Group A and earned a berthin the semifinals.
The same day, the country also won 11 silver and 10 bronze medals.
As of 9:30pm on May 9, Vietnam ranked second in the medal standings with 39 gold,39 silver, and 46 bronze medals.
Thailand topped the list with 40gold, 30 silver, and 45 bronze medals while host Cambodia stood at the thirdplace with 39 gold, 39 silver, and 39 bronze medals./.
Female chess player Doan Thi Hong Nhung on May 9 brought a gold medal to Vietnam in Ouk Chaktrang women's single 60-minute after defeating Fillipo player Shania Mae Garcia Mendoza.
With a gold medal in the men’s single bar event on May 9, Dinh Phuong Thanh went down in the history of Vietnamese gymnastics winning gold in five consecutive editions of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

Despite losing 1-2 to the Philippines in the last match of Group A on May 9, the Vietnamese women's football team achieved the goal of not losing by a margin of more than two goals to keep their top position of the group and thus advancing to the semi-finals of the 32nd SEA Games.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
