SEA Games 31: Vietnam trounce Malaysia in men’s doubles tennis qualifications

Bac Ninh, May 17 (VNA) – Le Quoc Khanh and Nguyen Van Phuongof Vietnam on May 17 defeated their Malaysian rivals 2-0 in the qualificationround of the men’s doubles tennis event at the ongoing SEA Games 31.
Competing against Muhammad Aliman Bin Hamdan and DarrshanSuresh of Malaysia, the pair won both sets for scores of 6-4 and 6-0.
Throughout the day, tennis matches in the women’s singles, men’sdoubles, and mixed doubles are scheduled to take place in the northern provinceof Bac Ninh.

This year’s tournament has gathered over 300 coaches, athletes, and referees from 18 countries and territories, competing in 28 combat weight categories and eight performance categories. Vietnam’s team has 50 athletes, including six from Thai Nguyen province.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
