Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese shooters earned two goldand one silver medals on May 19, the fourth competition day of shooting at theongoing SEA Games 31.
The first gold was seized by Tran Quoc Cuong, Phan CongMinh and Pham Quang Huy, who took the first place in the men's 10m air pistol teamevent, with 1,713 points. Their Indonesian and Thai opponents obtained thesilver and bronze medals with 1,708 and 1,695 points, respectively.
Cuong, the most experienced shooter of Vietnam, also broughthome a silver medal on the day for his performance in the men’s 10m air pistol,with Wong Guanjie Johnathan of Malaysia bagging gold and Prabowo Muhammad IqbalRaia of Indonesia securing the bronze medal.
The Vietnamese shooting squad has so far earned four goldand three silver medals, ranking just behind Indonesia in the tally./.
Vietnam’s shooting team has set a target of winning between five and seven gold medals at the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), with the shooters scheduled to take a pre-SEA Games tournament at home this weekend.
Marksman Johnathan Wong is confident that the Malaysian national shooting team can achieve better results at the coming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) after a comprehensive training, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) reported.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
