SEA Games 31: Singapore, Thailand qualify for semi-finals of table tennis’ mixed doubles
Pairs from Singapore and Thailand exerted their dominance to qualify for semi-finals of table tennis’s mixed doubles at the ongoing SEA Games 31 held in the northern province of Hai Duong.

Hai Duong (VNA) –🍎 Pairs from Singapore and Thailand exertedtheir dominance to qualify for semi-finals of table tennis’s mixed doubles atthe ongoing SEA Games 31 held in the northern province of Hai Duong.
On May 17, Padasak Tanviriyavechakul and SuthasiniSawettabut of Thailand defeated Dinh Anh Hoang and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh of the hostVietnam 3-0. Pang Yew En Koen and Wong Xin Ru of Singapore won over WongQi Shen and Tee Ai Xin of Malaysia after five sets. Thailand’s Phakpoom Sanguansin and Orawan Paranang gained a 3-1comeback win over Vietnam’s Nguyen Duc Tuan and Bui Ngoc Lan. Another pair of Singapore booked the last spot in thesemi-finals, as Chew Zhe Yu Clarence and Zeng Jian beat Choong Javen and KarenLyne Anak Dick of Malaysia 3-1. Matches of the Round of 16 in the men’s and women’s singleswill take place on May 17 afternoon. While in Hai Duong, athletes were able to visit the province’stourist attractions, relics and craft villages. SEA Games 31, themed “For a Stronger South East Asia”, isbeing held in Hanoi and 11 neighbouring provinces and cities until May 23. It features 40 sports with 523 events, attracting around10,000 participants. The biennial event was initially slated for late 2021 butdelayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic./.
Singapore's hopes of sweeping the table tennis singles titles for a third consecutive SEA Games have taken a hit with the withdrawal of defending women's champion Lin Ye, according to the SEA Games 31 Organising Committee.
The Singaporean table tennis team arrived in the northern province of Hai Duong on May 10 - the first team to arrive in the locality for the upcoming SEA Games 31.
Tennis competitions at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) started on May 13 with men's double and women's double events at Hai Duong Gymnasium.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
