Hanoi (VNA) – Philippine and Singaporean teams,surpassing those from five other regional countries, have topped the men's andwomen’s four bowling events at the ongoing SEA Games 31, respectively.
On May 19, the Philippine players obtained 5,275 points for agold medal in the men’s four competition, with the silver and bronze medalspresented to their Malaysian and Singapore rivals.
On the same day, the women’s four event saw an outstandingperformance of the Singaporean gold medalist team, who secured 5,059 points intotal. Players of Malaysia and Indonesia respectively earned 4,951 and 4,843points for the second and third places.
Singapore was the most successful nation in four-day competitionof the sport, winning gold medals in all three women’s events, one silver inthe men’s doubles, and three bronze in women’s singles, men’s doubles, and men’sfour.
SEA Games 31, themed “For a Stronger South East Asia”, is being held in Hanoi and 11 neighbouring provinces and cities until May 23.
It features 40 sports with 523 events, attracting around 10,000 participants. The biennial event was initially slated for late 2021 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic./.

Indonesian pair Ryan Leonard Lalisang - Hardy Rachmadian won the gold medal in the men's doubles bowling category with 2,642 points on May 17, the second day of bowling competition in men's and women's doubles events.
Vietnam remained on top of the ongoing SEA Games 31, earning additional 27 gold medals on May 19 and surpassing its initial target of winning 140-150 at the event.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
