Hanoi (VNA) – Pétanque events within the ongoing SEAGames 31 kicked off in Hanoi after an opening ceremony on May 13.
A total of 98 athletes from six nations – host Vietnam, Laos,Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Malaysia – are set to join knockout matches,lasting 20 minutes each.
The matches are conducted in accordance with the statutes ofthe Asian Boules Sport Confederation. Throughout May 13, taking place arequalifying quarterfinals, semi-finals and the final matches among participatingsquads, with medals awarded in the afternoon.
Vietnam sent 19 athletes, including 10 males, to the events.
ꦐ The 31st edition is the 10th time the sport has been included in the SEA Games competition programme since 2001./.
A working team from the Vietnam Sports Administration on April 24 inspected the preparations for the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) at My Dinh National Stadium.
SEA Games 31 burst into life with fireworks and a captivating cultural show in the capital city of Hanoi, the Games officially run from 12-23 May with over 5,000 athletes from 11 nations competing.
