SEA Games 29: Thai football team brimming with confidence

The manager of the Thai men’s football team, Watanya Wongopasi said that Thailand are aiming for gold at the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 29) although the team will face strong rivals, one of which is Vietnam.

KualaLumpur (VNA) – The manager of the Thai men’s football team, WatanyaWongopasi said that Thailand are aiming for gold at the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 29) although the team will face strong rivals,one of which is Vietnam.

Ata press conference in Kuala Lumpur on August 13, coaches and managers ofparticipating men’s football teams at SEA Games 29 affirmed they were allconfident of grabbing SEA Games medals, while praising their opponents.

Hosts Malaysia are perhaps under most pressure, with expectations for a medalon home soil. Coach Ong Kim Swee said his team has made meticulous preparationfor the tournament and his boys are focused on their goals.

Vietnam’s U22 football team are also confident of reaching the final of the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 19-31.

“We will make efforts to showcase thrilling matches for football fans”, Headcoach Nguyen Huu Thang said at the conference.

The men’s football competition will be contested by Malaysia, Myanmar,Singapore, Laos and Brunei in Group A. Meanwhile, Vietnam will face defendingchampions Thailand in Group B, alongside Indonesia, Cambodia, Timor Leste andthe Philippines.

On August 15, Vietnam will begin their campaign against Timor Leste.-VNA
