Science-tech department governs Korea-Vietnam Incubator Park

The Can Tho municipal Department of Industry and Trade transferred its governing role in the Korea-Vietnam Incubator Park (KVIP) to the municipal Department of Science and Technology on May 31.

Can Tho (VNA) – The Can Tho municipal Department of Industry and Tradetransferred its governing role in the Korea-Vietnam Incubator Park (KVIP) tothe municipal Department of Science and Technology during a local meeting onMay 31.

KVIP is ajoint project between the Vietnamese and Republic of Korea (RoK) governments withtotal investment of 21.13 million USD, 17.7 million USD of which isnon-refundable official development assistance from the RoK. Covering 4.5ha, theproject aims to support technological firms in the Mekong Delta and Can Tho inparticular to perform research.

ViceChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam said KVIP isstrong in modern technology, with qualified advisors and State incentives butits links with enterprises remain weak. He suggested building a businessdatabase to improve this.

KVIPDirector Pham Minh Quoc said KVIP will hold seminars and sign memoranda ofunderstanding on cooperation with institutes and colleges to disseminate KVIP’sinformation to high-tech firms at home and abroad.

Both sideswill make a list of experts, equipment and applicable scientific topics formutual use.

Incollaboration with the Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation, KVIPwill display technological products invented by its firms.

Themunicipal Department of Industry and Trade also plans to help KVIP commercialseits products.

In recentyears, KVIP has partnered with seven local universities and colleges, built adatabase on equipment with the Can Tho Technical Economic College and workedwith 27 regional scientists.-VNA
