Binh Dinh (VNA) – T🔯he Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund on November 28 held aceremony to present scholarships to students of ethnic groups and children ofnaval soldiers and fishermen in the central ✤province of Binh Dinh who were severely affected by storm Damrey.
As many as 140scholarships were presented to the students, with each primary studentreceiving grants worth 800,000 VND (35 USD) while junior and senior high schoolstudents - one million VND (44 USD) each. Addressing theceremony, Chairwoman of the Fund Truong My Hoa encouraged the students to pursue study despite difficultiesbrought by the storm. Established in1999, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund aims to support studies of ethnic groupsstudents. In 2014, the fundestablished the “For beloved Hoang Sa-Truong Sa” Club with the aim to offerassistance to naval soldiers and children of fishermen, who have beenprotecting the country’s sea and islands sovereignty. This year, the scholarshipfund and the “For beloved HoangSa-Truong Sa” Club handed over a total of 8,000 scholarships to students fromethnic groups and those from islands. Storm Damrey hitthe south central region of Vietnam on November 4, being one of the worst stormsto strike the region in years.
