Samsung Electronics supports Indonesia to surmount quake consequences

Seoul (VNA) - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd of the Republic of Korea(RoK) on October 16 revealed that it had sent 600,000 USD to Indonesia afterearthquakes and a tsunami devastated the country’s Central Sulawesi.

The aid was announced after the province was hit by  6.1- magnitude and 7.5- magnitude quakes anda subsequent tsunami in late September, which left over 2,070 dead and morethan 10,500 others injured, damaged many houses and infrastructure facilities andwashed away a vast area of crops.

Samsung Electronics said that the money had been sent to theIndonesia Red Cross to support the building of houses and assist the victims.

The company also plans to open a Samsung care centre in theregion to provide food and clothes for disaster-affected victims and repairhousehold commodities damaged by disasters.

In July, Samsung Electronics also assisted 200,000 USD forLombok – another island of Indonesia seriously affected by an earthquake.-VNA
