Hanoi (VNA) – Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos left Hanoi on July 14, wrapping up his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
During the visit, PM Dacian Ciolos held talks with PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang.
He also attended the Vietnam-Romania Business Forum, met with representatives of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association, and visited the northeastern province of Quang Ninh. Earlier, PM Dacian Ciolos and his entourage laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs and paid respect to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi.
During the meetings, the two sides reviewed the traditional friendship relationship in the past 66 years, acknowledging that the two countries see great potential to expand their cooperation.
They agreed to expand and diversify economic cooperation with special attention given to trade, energy, banking, agriculture, manufacturing industry, infrastructure, information technology, science-technology, environmental protection, climate change and tourism, among others.
They also agreed to accelerate the signing of a new Cooperation Programme between Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology and Romania’s National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation for 2017-2018.
During the visit, many important documents for expanding bilateral cooperation were signed in the fields of culture, education-training and energy.
The Romanian PM also announced his government’s decision to double scholarships for Vietnamese students who wish to pursue their study in Romania.
The two sides committed to boosting people-to-people exchange, an important measure to boost mutual understanding and sustainably develop bilateral relationship.
They also stressed their support for the peaceful settlement of disputes based on international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
They agreed to continue coordination in the implementation of Greater Mekong Subr-region and Danube River projects that were reached in the framework of the ASEM Dialogue on Sustainable Development.
Vietnam and Romania also committed to further increasing bilateral cooperation in the framework of the United Nations, Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the Vietnam-EU relationship and the ASEAN-EU cooperation mechanisms.-VNA
Vietnam and Romania have issued a Joint Declaration on the occasion of Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos’s official visit to Vietnam between July 11-14.

Highlighting the transformative potential of the draft law in revitalising Vietnam’s railway industry, Hoang Van Cuong, a deputy of Hanoi, expressed his support for Article 39, which empowers the Prime Minister to issue a list of railway-related goods and services to be assigned or ordered from domestic enterprises for production.
