Seoul (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) President Moon Jae-in'sstate visit to Vietnam shows the importance he places on the country as hepushes for stronger ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) under his "New Southern Policy" unveiled last year, stated anarticle run by The Korea Times on March 23.

The article noted that this is President Moon’ssecond visit to the country in just four months since he was there in November2017 for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) EconomicLeaders’ Meeting.

The repeated visits to Vietnam showMoon's eagerness to elevate bilateral relations to a new level, particularly onthe 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, it said.

The article wrote that a meeting between the RoKleader and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on March 23 will be anopportunity for both sides to discuss economic cooperation.

The article quoted President Moon as tellingVietnam News Agency ahead of the visit that the two countries have developed alevel of bilateral cooperation that can set an example for the world.

The two countries are already indispensabletrade partners of each other, it said, adding that cultural exchanges throughthe spread of Korean entertainment have brought the two countries closer.

“The state visit will hopefully cultivatestronger ties with Vietnam, which is one of the fastest-growing economies ofSoutheast Asia,” concluded the article.-VNA
