Under the agreement, CJ Group will provide chilli seeds and technologies to local farmers and buy all chill produce.
CJ Group expects to harvest bout 3,000 tonnes of dried chillies eachyear, which will then be shipped to CJ Group’s processing factoriesbased in China, the RoK and several others in the world. If the result is good, the group willcarry out a decade-long project, starting from 2014, he said, addingthat the group will build a chilli processing and packaging factory inthe province. Ninh Thuan province has more than 562 hectaresof chilli, mostly in Ninh Hai and Ninh Phuoc districts, and PhanRang-Thap Cham and Thuan Bac cities, with a capacity averaging 20 tonnesper hectare.-VNA
