RoK considers funding further transport projects in Vietnam

The Republic of Korea is considering funding three more key transport projects in Vietnam, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang said on the June 8 inauguration of Vinh Thinh Bridge in Hanoi.
The Republic of Korea is considering funding three more key transportprojects in Vietnam, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang said on theJune 8 inauguration of Vinh Thinh Bridge in Hanoi.

The new bridge, which links Hanoi’s outlying town of Son Tay withVinh Tuong district in Vinh Phuc province, has been built withpreferential official development assistance (ODA) capital from the RoK.

The minister said the Vietnamese governmenthas proposed the three future projects to the RoK via the EconomicDevelopment Cooperation Fund (EDCF). The mooted developments are Hung HaBridge linking Ha Nam and Hung Yen provinces across the Red River, thesecond phase of the southern coastal corridor road and the Tan Van-NhonTrach section of Belt Road No.3 in Ho Chi Minh City.

He said the three projects are important to socio-economic development in the respective areas.

Besides the newly-completed Vinh Thinh Bridge, the EDCF has fundedmany transport projects in Vietnam, including an Intelligent TransportSystem for the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong Highway, as well asconstruction of the southern coastal corridor, Vam Cong Bridge and theLo Te-Rach Soi Road.-VNA
