Jakarta (VNA) – A road show introducingVietnamese tourism took place on December 5 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The programme is part of activities the Vietnam National Administration ofTourism (VNAT) has organised to promote Vietnam’s image, culture and tourismproducts as well as push up travel and tourism cooperation between the twocountries.

The administration has cooperated with localities and businesses to implementtourism promotion activities to Indonesian tourists in an effort to welcome100,000 Indonesian arrivals to Vietnam next year, said Deputy Head of theadministration Ha Van Sieu at the event.

He added that a direct route between Jakarta and Hanoi will be opened whileincreasing flights on Jakarta – Ho Chi Minh route.

Vietnam and international airlines continue cooperating to launch new routes tomeet the travel demand of tourists in the upcoming years.

Meanwhile, numerous Vietnam’s international airports have been constructed or upgraded.

Besides, investments have been poured into roads, waterways and railways withthe completion and operation of some expressways and trans-Asian roadsconnecting ASEAN countries and China.

Tedjo Iskandar from the Indonesian travel firm Destination Networking said Vietnamshould have more tour guides who can speak Indonesian language.

He also noted that flights should be connected directly to offer convenience totourists besides operating the Jakarta-Hanoi direct route.

Vietnam has welcomedover 63,000 Indonesian tourists in the first 11 months of this year, accordingto data of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
