The Hanoi People’s Court sentenced a lawyer to three years in prison for “abusing the rights to freedom and democracy to violate interests of the State, rights and legitimate interests of organisations and individuals” at a first-instance trial held on January 9 - 10.

Legal proceedings have started against Le Thi Thu Tram, residing in Son Hoa district, the central province of Phu Yen, for “abusing the rights to freedom and democracy to violate the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organisations and individuals".

The People’s Court of Can Tho city on January 27 upheld the prison sentences for Truong Chau Huu Danh and other members of the so-called “Bao Sach” (clean journalism) group.

The People’s Court of Binh Thuy district in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 22 sentenced a woman to two years in prison for “abusing the rights to freedom and democracy to violate the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of organisations and individuals.”

Police in Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city, put a man into temporary detention on October 10 to investigate into the charge of “abusing the rights to freedom and democracy to violate interests of the State, rights and legitimate interests of organisations and individuals” under Article 331 of the 2015 Penal Code.
