Reopening of Mong Cai border gate facilitates resumption of exports to China

The Mong Cai International Border Gate in the northern province of Quang Ninh was reopened about a month ago, facilitating the resumption of not only exports to China but also imports of materials to maintain domestic production.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The Mong Cai InternationalBorder Gate in the northern province of Quang Ninh was reopened about a monthago, facilitating the resumption of not only exports to China but also importsof materials to maintain domestic production.

Statistics of the local customs show that about 765 million VND (32.78 million USD) worthof exports from Vietnam to China and vice versa have gone through the bordergate during that time, down 30 percent from the sameperiod last year.

Despite falling import and export value, tax revenue grew 36percent to 276 billion VND.

Most of Vietnam’s exports were fresh and processedagricultural products, such as cassava powder, pepper, cashew nut, tea andseafood, along with cotton yarn and face masks, while imports included materials,consumer goods and electronic components./.
