Relief of legendary ancestor listed among national treasure pieces
A century-old relief of Lac Long Quan, the father of the first Hung King - the legendary founder of Vietnam, has been recognised as a piece of national treasure.

Hanoi (VNA) – A century-old relief of Lac Long Quan, the father of the first Hung King - the legendary founder of Vietnam, has been 🌠recognised as a piece of national treasure.
The certificate of the Prime Minister’s recognition was presented in Thanh Oai district, Hanoi on April 12.
The relief depicts Lac Long Quan wearing a royal robe and sitting on the throne, along with mandarins from the court, watching a boat race.
The red-lacquered and gilded wood object dates back to the late 19th century or the early 20th century. It is currently kept at Noi Temple (or Lac Long Quan Temple) in Binh Da hamlet of Binh Minh commune.
Despite being restored many times, the relief still retains its historical and original artistic values, reminding people of the country’s ancestry.
Also on April 12, a traditional festival was held at Hat Mon Temple in Phuc Tho, another district of Hanoi, to commemorate the 1,976th anniversary of an uprising led by Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) against foreign invaders.
On this occasion, a certificate was granted to recognise the festival as part of the national intangible cultural heritage.-VNA
