Dien Bien (VNA) – Domestic and foreign touristarrivals to relic sites in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien stronglyhiked during the Lunar New Year festival.
Over 12,500 people visited Dien Bien Phu battlefield reliccomplex from February 2-9, with nearly 9,000 on February 8-9 alone, said DeputyDirector of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum Vu Thi Tuyet Nga.
From February 9-10, visitors went for sightseeing and posingat Hill A1, Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument, Bunker of Colonel de Castries,Muong Thanh bridge and Dien Bien Phu campaign headquarters.
Meanwhile, in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, culturaland ecological tourist areas such as Ko Tam, Troh Bu, Ako Dhong village and Donvillage attracted crowds.
Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Ko Tamcommunity-based tourism JSC Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh said from the second to fifthday of the Lunar New Year, Ko Tam welcomed more than 40,000 visitors.
Meanwhile, Troh Bu ecological tourist site is home to over10,000 species of rare orchids and many kinds of wildlife. It also preservesthe largest dugout canoe in Vietnam as recognised by the Vietnam RecordsOrganisation.
Buon Don tourist area and Yok Don national park in Buon Dondistrict; Lak lake in Lak district; Ako Dhong village and Ako Ea ecologicaltourist site in Buon Ma Thuot city also lured tens of thousands ofholidaymakers.-VNA
