Reference exchange rate down 1 VND at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,153 VND per USD on October 21, down 1 VND from the last working day of previous week (October 18).

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) set the daily referenceexchange rate at 23,153 VND per USD onOctober 21, down 1 VND from the last working day of previous week (October 18).

With the current trading band of +/- 3percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,843 VND per USD and the floor rate at 22,452 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at some commercialbanks saw only minor changes from the same time on October18.

At 8:30 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 23,120 VND/USD, and the selling rate at 23,270 VND/USD, both up 5 VND from on October 18.

Meanwhile, BIDV kept both rates unchanged,with the buying rate listed at 23,145 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,265VND/USD.

Techcombank also maintained both rates at the same levels as on October 18, listing the buying rate at 23,133 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,273 VND/USD.

During the week from October 14 to 18, thedaily reference exchange rate was adjusted down on the first day and unchangedon Tuesday before going up on the next two days. The trend reversed again onFriday, resulting in the rate ending the week 4 VND higher than on Monday.

The rates listed at commercial banks alsochanged in different directions but ending the week mostly up compared to thebeginning of the week./.

🌺 Overnight interbank interest rate hits 16-month low thanks to abundant liquidity

According to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), in the interbank market, the trend of decreasing overnight interest rates has continued, starting at 3.13% in the first session of last week and gradually decreasing over the sessions to 1.67% at the last session of the week. In total, overnight interest rates decreased by 1.46 percentage points within one week.
